South Boston Obituaries & Tributes

Maureen Dooley of South Boston passed away on September 5, 2026. She was born in South Boston on June 1, 1943, to the late John F. and Anna (McNeil) Dooley. She was the devoted sister of the late John Patrick Dooley and Joan Wallace. She is survived by her nieces and a nephew: Donna Dooley of Pawcatuck, CT, Laurie Packard of Rockland, MA, Peggy Dooley of New London, CT, Dianna Dahlquist of Marshfield, MA and Katie Merlini of East Bridgewater, MA and John Pat Dooley of Florida. She was a proud great-aunt to Grace Rezendes, Hope Rezendes, Trevor Packard, Samantha Packard, Bridget Dolan, Phillip Stover, Patrick Stover, Ryan Stover, Lexi Dahlquist, DJ Dahlquist and John Merlini. They, along with many others, appreciated the outsized candy bags she shared when visiting. She had a special affection for her great-great twin nephews, Declan and Finn Dolan. Maureen was a long-time member of the Ukulele Union of Boston and enjoyed playing in Harvard Square and other venues. She loved live music and theater. She rode horses well into her later years.

Visitation will be held at the O'Brien Funeral Home 146 Dorchester Street South Boston on Sunday September 13th from 2-5PM. A Funeral Mass will take place in St. Augustine Chapel 183 Dorchester Street South Boston on Monday September 14th at 11AM with interment immediately following in Gardens of Gethsemane Cemetery, West Roxbury.
